Composition & The form of drug:

Each pack contains 12 sachets of 250 mg of cream. One sachet contains 12.5 mg of imiquimod.

Indications:

Aldara is used to treat keratosis, basal cell carcinoma, external genital / perianal warts. Actinic keratoses, also known as solar keratoses. Basal cell carcinoma are among the most common forms of skin cancer, and may appear as small nodules or uplifting spot. The external genital / perianal warts (condyloma acuminata) usually appear on the surface of genital organs and around the anus.

Dosage and administration:

The cream is applied thinly to the affected areas at night (6-8 hours) three times a week - for example, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. In the morning the cream must be washed off the skin with warm water and soap.
The treatment course lasts up to complete disappearance of warts or other entities, but not more than 16 weeks.

Side effects:

The most common side effects when applying creams are redness, swelling, ulceration, skin peeling, itching, burning. Less common color changes, headache, muscle aches, dry skin, flu-like syndrome, lymphadenopathy, diarrhea. Most of these reactions disappear after the use of the drug. They are a sign that Aldara does work. If you are not able to move side-effects, wash the cream with soap and water and consult a doctor. The doctor may recommend a short break in treatment. If there are other side effects, or you feel sick, tell your doctor.

Overdose:

If you caused too much cream, remember that it can cause severe skin reactions. Excess cream can be simply wash off with soap and water. If the skin reaction stopped, you can continue treatment.
